Two inches. That is the maximum rainfall the National Weather Service predicts for parts of the Inland Empire and Southern California this weekend. A low pressure system arrives Friday, October 30, and persists through Sunday, November 2. The system will deliver between half an inch and two inches of rain across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.

Meteorologists identify Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, as the peak days for precipitation. If measurable rain falls on Halloween, it will be the first wet holiday in Los Angeles since 2014. Rose Schoenfeld, a National Weather Service meteorologist, noted that the weather pattern requires residents to prepare for damp conditions. She advised families to have a backup plan in case the rain makes outdoor activities difficult, but she did not recommend canceling plans entirely.

Temperatures will drop alongside the rain. Residents in Los Angeles should expect highs in the upper 60s to low 70s on Friday. Saturday and Sunday highs will settle into the 60s. Sebastian Westerink, another NWS meteorologist, reported similar upper 60s and low 70s readings for Orange County through the weekend. Inland Empire areas will see cooler highs in the mid-60s from Friday through Sunday.

Experts urge drivers to exercise caution on wet roads. Schoenfeld suggested trick-or-treaters bring umbrellas, an extra layer of clothing, and close attention to local weather alerts. Westerink emphasized the need to stay informed by official weather sources to plan around the incoming moisture. He specifically warned motorists to be careful on the roads as conditions change.

The storm system remains the focal point for weekend planning. The NWS forecast issued Monday sets the stage for a potentially gloomy holiday. The low pressure system drives the rain totals and temperature drops. Residents in the four affected counties face the same weather pattern. The weekend schedule includes the arrival of the system Friday and its departure after Sunday. The weather service tracks the storm's movement across the region. Local officials monitor the forecast for updates. The rain marks a break from the dry Halloweens of recent years.
