Javonte Williams rushed for 155 yards in the 38-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, capping a night that lifted the Dallas Cowboys out of a two-game losing streak. The win on Monday night in Philadelphia stopped a slide that had dropped Dallas to a 2-4 record and kept the team within striking distance of the division leaders.
Quarterback Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes, two to CeeDee Lamb and one to George Pickens. It was the sixth time in his career that Prescott has thrown at least three scores against the Eagles. The Cowboys also recorded their first combined total of over 200 rushing and passing yards against Philadelphia since 1983.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer appeared unusually quiet after the game, a contrast to his usual locker room celebrations. He told reporters the team's performance was not born out of desperation. 'Our guys just played good,' Schottenheimer said. When asked if he was okay, he added, 'I'm great. Excited for our guys.'
Prescott noted that he had not discussed the recent criticism with his coach but observed a change in his demeanor. 'It's not like he's naive,' Prescott said. 'It's not like he hadn't heard some noise about him and whether it's the call in the games or whatever doubt that's been out there. But we've got his back.'
The Eagles' offense struggled under pressure. The Cowboys' defense picked off one of Tanner McKee's throws and sacked him twice. DeMarvion Overshown recorded the interception, while Quinnen Williams and Donovan Ezeiruaku brought down the quarterback. The Cowboys allowed the Eagles to score on their first possession of the first and second halves but held them to 21 points.
Dallas had not won a game in 22 days before this victory. The last win came on October 4 against the Houston Texans. The Cowboys now hold a 57 percent chance of winning the NFC East, according to ESPN Analytics. Their next game is at AT&T Stadium against the Arizona Cardinals, who are 2-5.
