Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on February 14, 2027. The announcement puts the rapper, born Shawn Carter, on stage at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, for the first time since his Roc Nation partnership with the NFL began in 2019.

The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation released the news on Monday night. The promotion featured a short video of Jay-Z sitting in SoFi Stadium surrounded by goats. The caption read, "GOAT's out of the bag." This confirmation follows days of speculation and his recent concert run, which concluded with three shows at SoFi Stadium over the weekend.

Jay-Z’s connection to the event is rooted in his company’s long-standing relationship with the league. Since 2019, Roc Nation has advised on and helped produce the Super Bowl halftime show. When the partnership was first announced, Jay-Z told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, "If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now." Seven years later, the rapper has accepted the invitation.

The 2027 performance will be the first for Jay-Z at the event. He joins a list of recent headliners that includes Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd. His wife, Beyoncé, who has performed at two Super Bowls, holds the record for the most Grammy nominations in history with 89. Jay-Z has won 25 Grammys and received 89 nominations himself.

His discography includes albums such as "Reasonable Doubt," "The Blueprint," and "The Black Album." Notable tracks include "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)," "99 Problems," and "Empire State of Mind." His 1996 debut album, "Reasonable Doubt," was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame last year.

Beyond music, Jay-Z has built Roc Nation into an entertainment company managing artists and athletes. He co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and founded Roc Nation in 2008. He became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.

The announcement comes as music streaming metrics often surge following major televised performances. For context, Bad Bunny held the top six spots on Spotify’s Top 50 U.S. chart the morning after a recent Super Bowl appearance, with another song at No. 8 and eleven other tracks in the top 50.
